George M. Atkinson is a Scottish writer, director, and producer best known as the creator of the YouTube series The Fragrance Apprentice, now in its seventh season, and the founder of the independent film label Effortless Pictures.

George’s last short film, From Here to There, was a breakout success on the international festival circuit. The sci-fi coming-of-age story screened at 35 film festivals worldwide, winning 13 awards—including multiple Best Sci-Fi Short Film honors—and was officially selected for the prestigious Boston Science Fiction Film Festival. The film is now available via streaming on Circuit Cinema.

Known for his versatility, George’s storytelling spans sun-drenched, whimsical British summer tales and darker, more philosophical dramas, often rooted in science fiction. His visual style blends warmth and charm with existential depth, delivering narratives that feel both nostalgic and unnervingly new.

George has also produced the short drama Grace, and is currently in production on A Murdered Man in the Margins—a surrealist psychological drama set in the Scottish Highlands. as well as developing his debut feature, Creature of the Night, a contained science fiction-horror film with elements of psychological and body horror.
